TED (short for Technology, Entertainment, Design) is the most famous global platform focused on promoting ideas worth spreading. It began in 1984 as a conference that brought together the topics of technology, entertainment and design, and today it covers almost all topics – from science to business and global issues. It is conceived in the form of inspiring and educational speeches lasting up to 18 minutes, which, according to the organizers, turned out to be long enough to be serious and short enough to keep people's attention. TEDx programs are local, independently prepared and organized events under the license and rules of TED, and such events are today organized in more than 200 countries around the world in more than 100 languages. The first TEDx event organized in Croatia was in 2010 under the name TEDxZagreb, which is also the oldest and most popular TEDx event in Zagreb. It brings together many intellectuals and enthusiasts focused on promoting science and society. Also, one of the most important factors in the huge popularity of TED talks is that they are available online, anytime, to anyone via the official TEDx YouTube channel with the aim of exchanging ideas in communities around the world and encouraging conversation about important topics. Each TEDx conference is marked by a specific theme, and this year's edition of TEDxZagreb will be held on October 16th and will bring the theme "Ignite the Spark". Lumenovci once again recognize the importance of such an event and, by their presence, emphasize that this type of event is great for meeting new interesting people.
